Funk Flex goes in on Charlemagne the GOD

I was listening to Funkmaster Flex on Saturday night as I tend to do, when I noticed EARLY, Flex had a bone to pick.  For 3 hours in between the music Flex was putting the ether on Charlemagne the GOD from Power 105  incessantly.  Only thing was he was keeping names discreet so I had to start investigating and checking the twitter.  Everybody on the Funk Flex twitter was saying, "You going hard on @Cthegod".  That sold me...but that wasn't it.  Then he was giving employment history, robbery history, power 105 history, and the fact that Charlemagne's Father was the guy who got thrown out of Giant Stadium, wearing a Cowboys jersey and rocking a tazer!?!?!!?  Worst of all, Flex claims folks got robbed at FINGERPOINT, not gun point, FINGERPOINT!!!!!! I can't say I didn't love it.  Most DJ's want to be liked and don't rock the boat, not Funkmaster Flex!!!!

News: Nicki Minaj Bows out of Summer Jam

Yesterday afternoon, the Hot 97 annual Summer Jam kicked off in New Jersey.  Earlier in the show On Air Personality Peter Rosenberg addressed the crowd saying,"“I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here,” Mr. Rosenberg told the crowd. “I see them. I know there are some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later — I’m not talking to y’all right now. “I’m here to talk about real hip-hop.”  His comments made the YMCMB mistress decide to bow out of her performance.

I'm split two ways about this.  First I am a B-Boy since 1989.  I love Hip Hop. I also understand that genres are created because of characteristics found in the music.  Technically 60-70% of the music on Roman Reloaded is NOT hip-hop.  OKAY, that is an OPINION!!

Second, I have to look at this as a business, and HOT 97 that hired Minaj is a BUSINESS!  Minaj was going to be the headlining act to close the show with potential cameos that we will not get to see.  As a Business decision, do you think the smartest thing to do is insult your headliner, the person that most people came to see at the show she is performing. NO, that's bad business!!!!  Rosenberg I respect your Kanye West'ness in standing up for traditional hip hop, but do that on your show, not the biggest event of the companies year.

Nicki Minaj on the other hand, I applaud that she was not going to be insulted and be the headliner.  She made the business re-evaluate their business strategies.  The only thing I wish is that artists as big as her would stand up against industry pressures as much as they will boycott insults!!!

...and the world keeps turning!!!!
